Our skin is the most delicate part of our body and it is affected by many outside factors and our body hormone levels. One such common issue that affects your whole look and spoils the texture of your smooth skin is acne. Acne is generally common in teens and adolescents, but adults with clogged pores also suffer with acne. Acne breaks out when your skin becomes too oily and clogs your pore, but don’t worry the perfect solution for this problem is toner.
Toner is generally a liquid that is a boon to acne prone skin. It helps you to fight against acne by shrinking your pores thereby preventing clogging, balancing your skin’s pH level, adds a layer of protection to your skin, prevents ingrown hair, moisturizes and refreshes your skin.
So by using toner you not only get rid of acne but you also get a smooth and beautiful skin without much hassle. Toners like many beauty products can be factory made or homemade. I would recommend homemade as it saves your money and is suitable to almost all kinds of skin. Factory made toner is easy to buy but you neglect the long term harm that it will do to your skin.
So here I present you a few simple homemade toners that are ideal for acne prone skin.

1.Mint Leaves’ magic
Mint leaves are every day ingredients in many Indian dishes and can be grown at home very easily without much extra care needed. Mint leaves have vitamin A and anti-acne elements that give you clear skin as it removes blackheads instantly and cleans up your pores.
To make this toner you just need to mix some mint leaves into hot water and then allow the solution to cool. Now simply dip a cotton ball or a tissue and wipe or dab your skin with it. I would advise you to use fresh mint leaves to have the optimum effect of this toner.
2.Peppermint tea toner
This toner is made of three essential ingredients lemon juice, peppermint tea and hazel, each of these ingredients plays their own part in making this toner for acne prone skin. Peppermint tea (from tea bags) contains menthol and astringent properties making it a great face cleaner.
Lemon juice rich in vitamin C represses the growth of bacteria thereby preventing clogged pores. And finally the hazel also has astringent properties making it perfect for acne treatment. So these three ingredients come together making this an effective toner for acne prone skin. To prepare this toner
- Firstly for a few minutes dip the peppermint tea bag in boiling water and then remove the bag
- Then proceed to add 1 tbsp lemon juice and 2 tbsp hazel in the boiling water
Let this solution cool down and then use it a cotton ball or tissue paper to wipe or dab the solution on to your skin. The ingredients of this solution are a little hard to find and a bit costly but this toner will have immediate and lasting effect so it is highly recommended by me.
3.White Vinegar toner
Nowadays white vinegar is available in every household or can be brought at almost all local super markets. White vinegar has antimicrobial, antiseptic and exfoliating properties that help in treating acne swiftly. To make this simple toner you just need to mix the white vinegar in equal amount of water to dilute it and then apply this solution on your skin with a cotton pad or a tissue.
Before using this toner I would advise you to wash your skin with a mild cleanser or soap and then rinse it off but don’t dry it with a towel, let it air dry.
Rose water has been a treatment for acne for ages; it has antimicrobial and antiseptic properties that removes acne with ease and also soften your skin. I have advised you to use homemade or simple ingredients that can be found in your house but making rose water at home is a tedious work that needs a lot of time and work. So you can buy rose water easily in any local shops, I would personally recommend Dabur or Patanjali brand rose water.
This is a simple toner where you dip a cotton ball or a tissue in rose water and wipe your skin with it and this can be used every day before going to bed.

Camphor or ‘Kapoor’ as we know it in Hindi is very advantageous to your skin as it cures many skin issues like acne, pimples etc. We already know the many benefits that rose water provides us with and when mixed with camphor it becomes more potent.

8.Cold water or Ice Cube toner
We all prefer hot water for showering and washing our face but we don’t realise that hot water increases sebum (cause for oiliness on your skin) production thereby causing more acne outbreak. But cold water may take a while to get used to but they reduce the production of sebum exponential thereby reducing acne.
This toner is quite simple just wash your skin with cold water or rub an ice cube on the skin making it one of the easiest toners to use. Make sure to use this toner at least twice a day for getting the best results.

Tomatoes are a fruit that is always available in a well-used kitchen but what many of us don’t know is that tomato has antioxidant qualities and high levels of acidity reducing skin issues like acne, pimple, rash etc. Honey has antiseptic, anti-allergic, antioxidant and antibacterial qualities making it a simple and easily available skin treatment.
